Bata Children’s Program

Bata at Ndege Centre

Easter Holidays at the Ndege Resource Centre saw Bata Kenya come and donate 208 pairs of Toughees (school shoes) to regulars at the centre. The day was marked by the monthly hygiene drive which includes removal of jiggers, haircuts, counselling and sexual health talk done by nurses from the local N’giya Clinic.

A total of 165 children showed up to the hygiene drive. After the morning activities, we offer breakfast for all the kids and softly move on to the sporting activities.

The Bata team comprising of Francis, Ben and Sharon took part in various games after splitting into their own groups. Francis, a former footballer with the Bata Bullets, conducted a small football passing a dribbling session, Ben took part in the volleyball with our girls and Sharon took over the young ones in some singing and fun games.

As part of our mentorship program, our guest this weekend was Kenya Karate coach Prof. James Bobby Ware.

The main event, and the moment all the kids were looking forward to came just before we broke off for lunch. After a small word of prayer and a word from our local area assistant chief, the Bata team led by Francis, formally present the 208 pairs of shoes to the kids of Ndege Centre.

The Bata team also planted trees as is customary for all our guests as part of the Ndege Centre Reforestation Initiative.
